The City of Duarte is proud to unveil a comprehensive, multi-lingual website entitled www.duarteyouth.org that will help connect local families with some 100 programs, activities and services available to them and their children within the San Gabriel Valley. This one-of-a-kind online resource guide, was developed in collaboration with the Duarte Unified School District and the County of Los Angeles in conjunction with the City’s new public service campaign, “Duarte A Kid’s Kind of Town, Too!” The goal of this interactive website is to educate the community about the many youth-oriented resources available to both City and County residents revolving around social, health, volunteer and recreational opportunities.

Focused solely on improving the lives of community youth and their families, visitors to the website will find resource information for children ages birth to 18 accessible in English, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese and Korean. The featured resource information was gathered from existing City, Duarte Unified School District and Los Angeles County service providers. Information is categorized by pre-school, Elementary School, High School and All Ages to help users quickly and easily locate resources. Each listing will provide a description of the program, service or activity, contact numbers, and a program schedule. Users can also click on an interactive calendar option to find programs offered on a particular day. There will also be a featured question of the month to poll residents on issues about youth. A “fun links” section will link users to upcoming fun youth-oriented activities and events. It is mine and the Council’s hope that this new internet based solution will serve as a catalyst for stimulating positive youth involvement in numerous programs and provide a forum to explore additional areas of youth opportunity while celebrating the richness of each generation.
